Welcome to EMWA
EMWA is the European Medical Writers Association. It supports medical writers and medical editors through training and networking opportunities. EMWA is a great place to pick up the skills needed to broaden your horizons as a medical writer. EMWA's aim is to provide educational and social networking opportunities for its members.

EMWA offers continuing education and professional training for medical communicators through the comprehensive EMWA Professional Development Programme. This programme offers a broad variety of medical writing courses that cover topics including: basic writing skills, guidelines specific for the pharmaceutical industry, and accounting for freelancers. For more information, email. This training is offered at EMWA's conferences that draws medical writers to a different European city each Spring and Autumn.

You may have noticed that EMWA's website has been given a fresh look. The re-design of the website has been a small part of a larger development project that has involved implementing a membership database and conference regsitration system at Head Office, and providing access to these features for all members via an online web portal. To find out more about what the web team has been doing in the last year or so, please click here .

This website offers access to EMWA's journal, The Write Stuff (TWS), as well as access to our freelancer list and a jobs page advertising vacancies for both freelance and in-house medical writers and editors. In an exciting development, we now also have a company list, in which companies can advertise their services. If you would like more information about how to sign up to the freelancer or company list, or how to advertise your job vacancies on this website, please contact This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it

Certain areas of the EMWA website have restricted access. These member-only sections are only accessible if you become a member of EMWA. If you are already a member and would like to gain access to these sections, please follow the instructions below:

Access to the members-only section of this website requires registration. The generic username/password (User1315/paste) is no longer valid and will not give you access to this section. In order to register, please click on the "Register" link below the members log-in box and fill in the online registration form. During this registration process, you will choose your own unique username and password, which will, when approved, allow you to enter the members-only section of the website.

When you submit the online registration form, the information will be sent to Head Office, who will verify that you are a current member and approve you for access. As Head Office are dealing with a large volume of email queries regarding the new website, online database, and conference booking system, as well as the upcoming conference in Barcelona, please be patient and rest assured that they will approve your registration as soon as humanly possible. Once your registration has been approved, you will receive an email of confirmation. You will then be ready to see the exciting website features offered to EMWA members by logging in using the username and password selected by yourself during the registration process.

If you have any comments or queries about the website, EMWA, or medical writing-related topics, please email This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it .
